I’m Wesley. I exist with my wonderful wife Rachel and my perfect, angel son Wallace. I am a Michigan native and absolutely adore the Great Lakes but I am obsessed with everything the world has to offer and you’ll always find me a little eager to explore everything else that is out there. My head is always a little bit in the clouds and my wife will tell you that I have a tendency to romanticize just about everything I come across. I love the complexities of the world and it doesn’t take much to get me gushing about everything from grand cosmic pictures down to the beauty of minute little complexities.
That’s where my photography comes in. Photography was my saving grace when I needed to add some beauty and importance to my reality. From there, it seemed that everywhere I looked the world had some hidden beauty ready to be captured and shared. I started with nature and art photography but it didn’t take long before I started to fall in love with the unique, inconsistent, gorgeous complexities that are humans.
That’s where YOU come in. I love people. More specifically, I love the way people work. I love the way they interact with the world, what makes them smile, what makes their eyes light up, how they exist within their space, and probably most how they interact with each other.
While photography requires an eye for composition, knowledge of light and color theory, even art history, and just plain old technical knowledge, I think it’s just my pure adoration for my subject matter that makes me great at what I do. I have a lot of trouble keeping my emotions in check during engagement shoots and you’ll probably hear some sort of sound from behind the lens when I capture a particularly lovely shot. I have cried at most weddings I’ve done it even when I’ve had limited interactions with the bride and groom. I’m working on it. I doubt it will ever change. People are masterpieces and I’m always both flattered and honored to be chosen to be the artist that captures it.
